A tour through New England brought us to Vermont. We stayed at Burlington, having read about the Island Line Trail - it exceeded expectations, great ride and scenery! We also visited Stowe and its Recreation Path, Montpelier (the state capitol), Waterbury (home of Ben & Jerry's), other towns and state parks. Island Line Trail: The Island Line Trail consists of three segments (Burlington Bike Path, the Colchester Causeway, and the Allen Point Access Area in South Hero) along Lake Champlain. The highlights of our trip were the bike ferry (across a 200 foot gap where an old railroad trestle once stood), and the 2.5 mile causeway ride with beautiful views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks.

Stowe Recreation Path: The Stowe Recreation Path was a surprise on our trip to Vermont. The 5.3 mile paved walking/biking trail follows the West Branch of Little River and has some of the prettiest scenery we've seen along a biking trail.
